News 2012

8th December

Well Scotland was finally hit with snow this week and boy it has been cold. The ponies have all enjoyed fun and frolics out in the field but sadly we missed the final show of 2012 NPS Scotland Youngstock Show due to the weather which was a bit dissappointing as we were looking forward to getting Anri Etoile(Tilly) out to her first show.Roll on 2013.

Leaving for pastures new - 2nd December

We have Sold Pillheath Prince Charming and he heads off to his lovely new home next week.
Merieston Daisy Duke(Daisy) left for her new home today to continue her ridden career with a lovely young girl, she has gone on a 2 month loan with view to buy.We will miss her so much but can't wait to watch her progress at shows.

SWPCA Winter Show - 11th November

Again we set off at a stupid time of 4am to head to Ingliston House with Cadlanvalley Georgie Boy and Tullibardine Tip Toes on board.Georgie won both Section B yearling and a very strong members class and Tip Toes won her part bred foal class so both ponies forward for the glitzy afternoon performances.
After Georgie won several championship I was chuffed to bits to be pulled forward supreme of show,a repeat of last years performance.

NSWPCA Winter Show - 4th November

Our first winter show of season proved to be a very successful outing and was nice having Catryn Bigley up from wales judging. Georgie Boy was champion yearling, overall youngstock, overall welsh and reserve supreme of show.
Tip Toes had her first ever show outing after only being handled for 3 weeks and was a wee star and was champion part bred welsh foal.

Scottish Weather

Well the rain never stopped all night and all day and we had to rescue 4 of our ponies this afternoon from the field we rent at fettercairn. All ponies now moved and happy.

Hatton Mains Show - 16th September

Had a fun day out at a local show. It was purely a fun day with no pressure.Took my old 21 year old Bureside Saphire(sophie) who hasnt been to a show for 5 years and despite being a bit full of herself in her old age she won the small M & M  In hand and was 2nd in veterans.
Alison had a wail of a time with Daisy, first of all being 2nd in her large breeds M & M ridden then doing her first dressage test and finishing 2nd. she then did her first show jumping class, having never jumped a show jump except an odd log in the woods and jumped a clear round and in jump off had one down to finish 2nd.

Scottish All Welsh Silver Medal Show - 26th August

We had another very early start for our final show of the summer show season.Georgie Boy had another good day winning the champion B youngstock and Reserve Overall B to Waterings Dunlightly.
Also took Di and her foal Sammy and they were both 2nd,just a shame Di lost so much weight being just brought in from field the day before.A lesson you can't show a broodmare from the field.

A Blast from the past

Here is a picture of my old Show pony from when i was a kid,he is still going strong at 33 years old.His name is Castleton April Dancer(buttons) and was very successful in the ring including supreme champion at Turriff, lots of folks will know him as Cultsmill Buttons when he was a JA showjumper in his 2nd career.Amazing pony!!!!

Puddledub Summer Show - 12th August

Today was the Puddledub Summer Show, a new show organised by Fiona Reed. It was held in a super outdoor venue, the weather was kind and was well supported. Georgie won 2 championships the M&M and also the 2 tone section.  There was a strong line up in the supreme with several Highland Show champions there. Georgie went beautifully, he had been quite naughty at Turriff when his hormones were raging, today was a calmer show and he concentrated much better. We were so pleased when he was called forward for supreme of show with several english judges amidst the supreme.
We also took Magic and Alison showed her to win her class. We had leased her for the summer and whilst she was here broke her in. The new owners came to the show today, we tacked her up and the little girl rode her around, 11 years old and a career change, what a super pony , she was so good. She went off to her new home from the show.
There was also a companion dog show, Paddy our Jack russell won the lorry dog class, he is quite a character and loves everyone and life in general.
We won some lovely prizes today including an amazing sash.

Turriff Agricultural Show

Well after over 25 years i did it again i got the supreme horse champion at Turriff show with Cadlanvalley Georgie Boy.I last won this prestige award as a teenager on a show pony.
Georgie first won a very strong small M & M section over some top winning ponies before going onto gain the supreme title with a top line up winning several trophies and £215 in prizemoney.
We are invited back to the show on monday to compete against the cattle and sheep champion for the £300 purse for supreme but as i write this i probably won't make the 2 hour journey for this.
Northview Magic Star was also 2nd in a very strong mare class after initially being pulled first.
Today was an amazing day

ROYAL WELSH SHOW

We set off on our holiday to Royal welsh at 11.30pm on friday night and we had a good journey down and arrived at Builth Wells at 10.30am. Ponies all came of the lorry fresh.
Ponies settled well into their stables albeit we had to add a few spars of wood to Georgie's stable.
On Sunday we hired a car and went to see the foals that are coming to join the stud in September.First we headed north to Bronheulog Stud and I was over the moon with our filly Bronheulog Alexia. We then headed south to Pillheath Stud where we endured very hilly roads but again i was very pleased with our boy Pillheath Prince Charming.
The weather for the whole week was very hot maybe a little too hot but at least it wasnt raining.
Monday and tuesday was very relaxing just watching judging and chilling out in the sun.

The alarm clock went off at 5am on wedneday morning for my class with Georgie at 8am. I was very nervous in the build up to his class, hoping that he settled in the main ring next to the cobs. He was a total star and trotted his socks off and I was over the moon to be 5th.

Thursday again was an early rise for Magic and Daisy's turn in the ring and they where both in the ring at the same time. Magic loved her experience in the main ring and was a very creditable 8th in a strong class.
Daisy's class was massive with 40 of the catalogued 55 entries forward and with her new handler strutted her stuff and to Alison's joy watching from the grandstand she was kept in and was placed 17th.

We left showground on friday morning a little sad that it was all over for another year and had a good journey home.

We had an amazing time at the show and can't wait for next year

WHW Show - 15th July

After the postponment of the scottish All Welsh Silver Medal Show we decided to have a nice relaxing day out with just Georgie Boy at a more local show.He won the palomino/spotted class then went Coloured Champion and was then Small M & M champion.

Echt Agricultural Show - 14th July

Well we finally have got to a show again after the last few weeks of show cancellations due to the weather. We did have to get towed into showfield and did get stuck in muddy rut on way out and hit a catalogue kiosk, oops.

Cadlanvalley Georgie Boy was Reserve Champion Small Mountain & Moorland and at exactly the same time Merieston Daisy Duke was getting Reserve Champion Large Mountain & Moorland. Northview Magic Star was 3rd in a very strong adult class.

Sorry no photos today,we were too busy...

Tally Update at her New Home

Tally has settled in well at her new loan home and is proving to be a wee star and has lots of little girls to love her.

Another New Purchase - 8th July

We have made another new purchase,Pillheath Prince Charming, a lovely Section B palomino/cream colt foal from the first crop of foals by the lovely young stallion CadlanValley Buzby(Russetwood Elation x Stockham Domino) out of Pillheath Patience(Carolinas Mynah Bird x Abercrychan Prejudice) who herself in her hey day was a Multi Medal winner and has produced many good ponies.

5th July

Well the weather has done it again and cancelled all shows in Scotland for a 2nd weekend on the trot and with more rain forecast over next week, lets hope next weekends shows are not cancelled. There has been lots of rumours flying about this week that Royal Welsh would be cancelling but these are just rumours.
On a happier note I have found a lovely home for my colt foal Goldenwood Olympic Mascot(Sammy) and he heads off to Essex in September to my old pal Caroline Eagle.
Rosedust Fairytale is also heading off to a new home next week on loan to be ridden and look forward to seeing her out under saddle.

Goldenwood Olympic Mascot - 28th June

Photos of Sammy this week,he had halter on for first time this week, hence marks on his nose.he was to be going to his first show but unfortunately it has been cancelled due to all the rain. he is FOR SALE.

Tullibardine Tip Toes - 24th June

We went to visit our new Part Bred welsh filly foal Tullibardine Tip Toes today. She is fairly maturing and we are so pleased with her. Roll on the beginning of october when she arrives.

Royal Highland Show - 22nd June

Left at the ungodly hour of 4 am with 2 ponies on board and arrived at a very muddy royal highland show. Cadlanvalley Georgie Boy was 2nd in yearling B class but was a bit excuberant in his class in the main ring but was good experience before the Royal Welsh.
Brynseion Sea Witch was sadly unplaced on her final show outing with us in a very strong class and it was very sad seeing her loaded into another lorry to head south to her new home yesterday.
We decided at the last minute yesterday to get a stable for Georgie and stayed over at the show for the night to join the party and annual spacehopper races.

NSWPCA Bronze Rosette Show - 17th June

We had another very successful day Northview Magic Star was champion Section B winning her Bronze medal Rosette than she went Reserve Overall Welsh and finally went Reserve overall of show. Cadlanvalley Georgie Boy was Section B youngstock Champion and overall youngstock Champion. Merieston Daisy Duke was 2nd in her In hand class than went very well in the novice ridden being 5th of 11.

Merieston Daisy Duke(Daisy) was Reserve In hand M & M and also won her Novice ridden class and was Reserve Novice. Northview Magic star won her class and was 2nd reserve and got her Blair qualifier.

SWPCA Bronze Medal Show - 27th May

Had a good day today. Northview Magic Star had her debut in the ring for us and was Reserve Adult B and Reserve Overall B to Waterings Dunlightly. Cadlanvalley Georgie Boy won his class and was Reserve B Youngstock.
A 3am start and Glorious hot weather has made it a very long tiring day.

New Addition to Stud - Bronheulog Alexia

We have a new addition to the stud who will be coming up here in September at weaning time. She is a lovely chestnut filly with a blaze and 4 whites as a future wife for Georgie Boy. This lovely filly is my birthday present of Alison.

Happy 21st Birthday to a very special pony, you have been in my life for nearly 20 years and hopefully many more.

NSWPCA Spring Show - 7th April

Today Alison & I headed north of Aberdeen for the area's Welsh group show, WPCS panel judge from Cheshire judging.
First we had the inhand classes, Suzi SeaWitch was 3rd in a strong A yearling class.
Georgie was in the yearling Bs and he won his class, he is quite a lad but behaved well, pleased with him too.
Daisy was in next and showed as happily as she always does, she won her class and went reserve C or D to a D stallion.

Alison then took some bravery pills, put on her ridden gear, tacked up and got on board. To date Daisys schooling has been in a field so this was all new to her. Bless her 4 white socks, she never put a foot wrong. We was so pleased with her, she was good on the go round, did a sweet baby individual show and we survived We were 2nd so really pleased, added bonus she picked up both her in hand and novice ridden final qualifiers for the NPS Scotland finals at Blair Castle in August.

Royal Northern Spring Show - 29th February

This was our first show of 2012.We took 3 ponies Cadlanvalley Georgie Boy(Georgie),Brynseion Sea Witch(Susie) and merieston Daisy Duke(Daisy).
Daisy was in her first ever show as an adult and came a credible 3rd to two nice section A's. Georgie won his first show as a yearling with susie 2nd to him and I was over the moon when Georgie went champion Mountain and Moorland with Dukeshill Darcy in Reserve.
